OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2016. Spring has sprung in Washington D.C. We’re making sure you can share all your pictures of the gorgeous Cherry Blossom Festival with family and friends. We’re rolling out one of our newest antennas to the National Mall – the Giant Eyeball Antenna.

The 3-D shape of the Giant Eyeball Antenna lets our engineers on the ground determine the crowd’s data consumption and distribute that data traffic. The antenna is perfect for events like festivals or parades when people are roaming the grounds and not seated in one location.

The Cherry Blossom Festival takes place in the same location as the 2017 Presidential Inauguration. This will help us test the Giant Eyeball Antenna deployment before the event in early 2017. Our engineers will see how the antenna performs on the National Mall and make any adjustments needed for a strong mobile experience next January.

The Giant Eyeball Antenna is one of the highest capacity antennas in our fleet. Mobile data usage is increasing every year. Our engineers are constantly developing the latest and greatest antennas to make sure all your tweets, snaps and selfies go through.

Our engineers anticipate and respond to increasing data usage patterns. They’re also getting creative with antenna designs. This lets us stay ahead of the data curve.” Evolved antennas like the Giant Eyeball help our network keep up with ever-rising data usage at big events. Keep an “eye” on events like the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Presidential Inauguration early next year to see how our network performs.
