Ford CIO Tells CeBIT ‘It’s not Enough to Simply Build a Great Car’
Klevorn told approximately 600 participants at the Automotive IT Congress at CeBIT in Germany: “It’s not enough to simply build a great car and at Ford we’re up to the challenge of delivering great experiences for our customers and transportation solutions to make people’s lives better. We put the customer at the centre of everything we do.”
She added: “Today we are a global manufacturing company that builds world class cars and trucks. But we’re also a mobility company and delivering both requires an unprecedented level of change for our IT team. “
In her presentation, Klevorn emphasised the need to take risks and seize on emerging opportunities to deliver visionary transport solutions in the future.
“One of my biggest priorities as CIO has been to set up a bimodal organization to enable balancing our core product work and emerging smart mobility work… and to really help push us forward as a software company,” she added.
“When you combine our expertise building cars with our newly developed strength as a software company – we believe that helps differentiate us and gives us an edge moving forward into a world of autonomous driving and connected vehicles.”
CeBIT has become a focal point for the latest technological advances across a huge range of industries and applications. Now the world’s largest digital, IT and telecommunications fair, it attracts more than 200,000 visitors annually. The Automotive IT Congress held at CeBIT is the most important IT summit for the automotive industry in Europe
