OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2016. Operators at LaSalle County Generating Station removed Unit 1 from service Saturday morning to replace seals on two pumps that were not performing to optimum levels.

The pumps circulate water in the reactor. The unit had returned to 100 percent power on Friday, following a refueling and maintenance outage.

LaSalle Generating Station is located about 75 miles southwest of Chicago near Marseilles, Ill. At full power the facility’s two generating units produce more than 2,300 megawatts of carbon-free electricity, enough to power more than 2 million typical American homes.
