OREANDA-NEWS. Singapore Exchange (SGX) today welcomes Taiwan-based Global Link Securities Co., Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) to its Securities market as a trading member.

Chew Sutat, Head of Equities and Fixed Income, SGX, said, “We are delighted to welcome Global Link as a SGX securities trading member, providing Taiwan investors greater convenience in investing in Singapore’s stock market. We look forward to Global Link on boarding TWSE’s member brokers, enabling them direct access to SGX’s comprehensive suite of securities products, before commencement of trading. “

Trading of SGX listed securities through Global Link is expected to go live in 2Q 2016.

Mr Sush-der Lee, Chairman of TWSE, said: “Global Link being accepted as a trading member of the SGX securities market is an important stage of our ‘step-by-step’ cooperation with SGX. We also hope to welcome Singapore investors to trade the Taiwan market by way of a trading link sometime in the future. We hope that this type of cooperation between exchanges will make it easier for brokers everywhere to offer streamlined and cost effective cross-border investment services.”

The admission of Global Link Securities Co., Ltd brings the total number of Trading Members in SGX’s securities market to 27. The securities market also has 25 Clearing Members. In addition, there are 11 Clearing Members for OTC-traded financial derivatives on SGX AsiaClear. In the derivatives market, there are 49 Trading Members and 24 Clearing Members.
