OREANDA-NEWS. As part of its continued expansion in the Middle East and Africa, Ford Motor Company announced that Moroccan credit company Wafasalaf and Ford distributor SCAMA (Société Chérifienne d'Automobile et de Matériel Agricole) will offer automotive retail financing for consumers in Morocco.

The new retail financing service will be offered to consumer as “Ford Salaf.”

“Through the benefits of Ford Salaf, such as one-stop shopping and faster approval times, we are delighted to help fulfil the dream of personal transportation for consumers in Morocco,” said Peter Weiner, regional director of Ford’s financial services business, Ford Motor Credit Company, in the Middle East and Africa. “Henry Ford’s vision was to open the highways to all mankind, and it is gratifying to be able to help realize that vision in Morocco.

“More and more families in North Africa are reaching a point where they can consider personal transportation, which creates new opportunities for them to go further to work and play.”

“By using Ford Salaf, customers will be able to select, buy and finance their vehicle without leaving the SCAMA sales site of their choice,” said Faycal El Abassi, commercial director of Wafasalaf. “This convenience and simplicity will be a value-added offer to retail customers in Morocco.”

Morocco is the first market in North Africa where Ford is helping provide retail financing with a local bank.

Ford and Wafasalaf will work together to develop products, services and marketing programmes that are tailored to customers’ needs. These promotions will be made available by Wafasalaf using the Ford Salaf brand name to retail customers in SCAMA Ford sales sites in Morocco.

“Wafasalaf currently finances many of the new Ford vehicles purchased at our dealerships,” said Abdelouahab Ennaciri, general manager, SCAMA Ford. “We are pleased that Wafasalaf and Ford will work together to deliver Ford Salaf products, services and marketing programmes that are tailored to our customers’ needs and are available exclusively through our network of 20 sales sites in Morocco.”

Morocco is the best-selling market for Ford in North Africa. Ford sold 11,800 vehicles in 2015 in Morocco. Ford expects its sales growth in 2016 to continue to outpace the industry growth, which is about 132,000 vehicles. In May 2015 Ford opened North Africa sales and purchasing operations in Casablanca and Tangiers.
