OREANDA-NEWS. March 21, 2016. E.ON and the Italian major agro-food group Granarolo have agreed on an outsourcing deal: E.ON Connecting Energies (ECT), E.ON’s international unit for integrated energy solutions, will fully own, operate and manage Granarolo’s existing and new energy assets with a total capacity of 14 MW. ECT will not only ensure the reliability of Granarolo’s own energy infrastructure and assets, but also help the company to meet their CO2 targets, increase energy efficiency and further lower their overall energy costs.

Specifically, ECT will refurbish, operate and maintain the existing energy infrastructure of 4 combined heat and power plants (CHP) at Granarolo’s main production sites. In addition, ECT will build, own and operate a 3.3 MWel CHP at the Usmate Velate production site in Northern Italy. The new plant will provide more than 21 GWh of electricity and about 13 GWh of thermal energy each year.

E.ON Connecting Energies is a member of E.ON Group and strongly growing part of E.ON’s strategic focus area of customer solutions. ECT specializes in integrated energy solutions for industrial, commercial and public-sector customers. The company designs, finances, installs and operates systems and equipment that deliver lasting reductions in energy consumption and CO2 emissions as well as life-time cost savings.

Granarolo is the major agro-food group in Italy with Italian capital, comprising two different yet synergic companies: Granlatte, a consortium of milk producers operating in the agricultural sector responsible for milk collection, and Granarolo S.p.A., a limited company that processes and markets the finished product through 12 production sites located all over Italy and two production sites in France. In 2015 the Group achieved a turnover of one billion Euro.
