ITOCHU Receives Incentive Award at the 25th Grand Prize for the Global Environment Award

March 18, 2016.ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO) is pleased to announce that it has received the Incentive Award at the 25th Grand Prize for the Global Environment Award (organized by the Fujisankei Group, with backing from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Nippon Keidanren).
The Grand Prize for the Global Environment Award recognizes companies and groups for their achievements in environmental activities, including the development of new technologies or products that prevent global warming or contribute to the realization of a recycling-oriented society, as well as the promotion of environmental conservation activities and businesses.
This year 13 companies and groups received awards, including the grand prize.
ITOCHU received the reward for managing to reduce CO2 emissions as a result of changing the way people work through the introduction of a morning work system. Instead of regular energy conservation activities, ITOCHU was recognized for its achievements from the perspective of “being able to contribute to environmental conservation while changing working styles and improving business efficiency.” ITOCHU will take the result as a valuable opportunity to consider this and other environmental conservation activities through improved business efficiency at each of its divisions and Group companies in the future, and expects to continue to pursue initiatives through its environmental management system.
