Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain Host Fourth Annual 'Shred Day Houston' on April 9
OREANDA-NEWS. March 18, 2016. Comerica Bank and storage and information management services Iron Mountain Incorporated® will reunite to host the fourth annual Shred Day Houston, a document shredding event, on Saturday, April 9, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free shredding event, held at Comerica Bank’s Mangum Banking Center (2201 Mangum Road, Houston, 77092), is offered as a public service to the Houston community and is designed to raise awareness of identity theft prevention and the importance of recycling. In addition, volunteers from the Houston Food Bank will be onsite to collect suggested donations of two non-perishable food items.
The public is invited to bring personal or business paper documents to be shredded onsite. There is no limit to the amount of paper any person can bring. All paper collected at Shred Day Houston will be turned into pulp and recycled after being securely destroyed.
“There was a new U.S. identity fraud victim every two seconds in 2014. Yet, as fast as this crime is growing, one effective preventive step is to securely destroy sensitive paper documents by shredding,” said J. Downey Bridgwater, Comerica Bank’s Houston Market President. “Shredding will turn any document into tiny useless scraps of unreadable paper in a matter of seconds, an easy step that helps keep your personal information private.
“Shredding and recycling paper also conserves natural resources, saves energy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and keeps landfill space free for other types of trash that can't be recycled,” Bridgwater added. “Comerica Bank again is pleased to join Iron Mountain in securely shredding and recycling paper documents for free at Shred Day Houston. Our efforts also will assist the Houston Food Bank in serving our community by encouraging participants to bring much-needed, non-perishable food items.”
This marks the fourth Comerica Bank/Iron Mountain community shredding event in the Houston. Since 2013, the two companies have destroyed and recycled more than 343,000 pounds of sensitive paper documents at the Shred Day Houston events. In addition, food and cash donations to the Houston Food Bank over the last three years have provided nearly 102,000 meals for hungry Houstonians. The two companies have hosted similar Shred Day events in Michigan, California, Arizona and in Dallas, Texas.
