OREANDA-NEWS. Deutsche Telekom continues to expand its international offerings for corporate customers. To this end, the company signed an extensive partnership agree-ment at the CeBIT computer trade fair in Hanover with Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader in Content Delivery Network (CDN) services. Effective immediately, Deutsche Telekom can offer Akamai's full solution portfolio to its corporate customers.

Over 200,000 servers deliver fast digital content from the cloud
Akamai services speed up websites and cloud applications on desktops, tablet PCs and smartphones leveraging over 200,000 servers, which are spread among 120 countries in over 1,400 networks. As a result, Internet users are served from their respective local networks in most cases, which improves per-formance. This is especially crucial for cloud applications, which companies are using increasingly. Akamai technology ensures that digital content is available quickly, reliably and securely.

Protection against cyber criminals
Akamai services are also deployed in the security area, when companies want to protect their websites and applications against cyber attacks without slowing them down for users. Cyber criminals can launch DDoS attacks on companies, for example, using malware-infected computers to send millions of queries to a website, which slows down under the load or crashes completely.

Patrick Molck-Ude, who is responsible for network business for Deutsche Telekom's corporate customers, says, "We want to continue growing with corporate customers, and coming from our position as number one in Germany, we want to advance our position in the European market and internationally with the help of our new portfolio. The partnership with Akamai is part of this strategy."

Anette Bronder, responsible for the Digital Division at T-Systems, adds: "Deutsche Telekom aims to double its revenue from cloud services for business customers by the end of 2018. That's why we are expanding our partner ecosystem continually. It is one of our greatest competitive advantages.

J?rgen Metko, Regional VP Central Europe at Akamai, says: "In our hyper-connected world, meeting the demands of the networks of tomorrow are a constant challenge. Users expect immediate, reliable access to websites and ap-plications, paired with global, end-to-end coverage – independent of which devices they use. Data volumes, demands on quality and performance and the diversity of devices and cloud services will all continue to increase. Our aim is to ensure fast, secure, seamless global delivery through a combination of Deutsche Telekom's infrastructure and the Akamai Intelligent Platform, which provides over 3,200 nodes worldwide."

More quality and speed in Internet traffic
An initial partnership was already launched last November and involves Deutsche Telekom's IP-VPN offering. In this solution, Deutsche Telekom leverages Akamai's strengths in optimized cloud networking, giving its business customers more speed in their Internet traffic. Deutsche Telekom has developed a solution that, with the help of technology from Akamai, constantly seeks out short-cuts on the data highways and thus provides much better data transmission quality in corporate networks. If a quicker, better alternative route is found, the data is diverted dynamically in real time. As a result, mission-critical applications can be delivered over the Internet more quickly and more reliably.
