OREANDA-NEWS. March 16, 2016. Yanacocha again exercised its right to peacefully defend possession after a new attempt by the Chaupe family to plant in an area located outside the land that the Chaupe family is illegally occupying since 2011.

This new invasion, located 400 meters from the house now occupied by the family, was detected a few days ago and caused Yanacocha, protected by law, to exercise the possession of the site by planting in the area recently plowed by the family. This activity, in which Peruvian Police officers did not participate, was carried out protecting at all times the physical integrity and the rights of the members of the Chaupe family.

It is important to stress once again that the land that was illegally plowed and is located more than 200 meters away from the house currently occupied by the family, is the subject matter of an injunction granted by the Court for Civil and Criminal Matters of Celendin by virtue of which the Chaupe family is prevented from disturbing Yanacocha property. This confirms that the activity carried out today strictly complies with the law.

The company informs that it will continue peacefully enforcing its ownership, preventing new invasions. This is done despite the attempts of some of its members of inciting violence by throwing stones to company employees who participated in this activity today.
