OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2016. Samsung's new Galaxy S7 phones only just went on sale Friday, but there's already a bandwagon of carrier promotions for the devices and Verizon just jumped on it.

Starting Friday and for a "limited time," those who buy a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge for the full retail price or through a 24-month installment plan can get a Samsung Core Prime phone by paying \\$1 a month for 24 months. The Core Prime, an entry-level phone, is up for grabs for new and current Verizon customers as well as those upgrading their phones.

Also as of Friday and for a limited time, those who buy one of the new Galaxy phones for full retail price or via an installment plan will get a \\$100 credit good toward their mobile phone bill. The credit also applies if you purchase a Droid Turbo, Turbo 2 or Maxx 2 smartphone.

Samsung hopes the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will resuscitate smartphone demand after last year's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge largely failed to do so. The South Korean company has been hurt on the low end by inexpensive Chinese phones and on the high end by Apple's iPhone. So far, the new phones have fared well among reviewers and Verizon and other carriers are using them to excite new and existing customers.

AT&T and T-Mobile are currently offering limited-time, buy one, get one promotions centered around the Galaxy S7.
