First US ethane cargo leaves Marcus Hook terminal
OREANDA-NEWS. The JS Ineos Intrepid left Sunoco Logistics' Marcus Hook terminal near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, today with the first US ethane cargo bound for an Ineos facility in Europe, the company says.
The "dragon" class ship is transporting a cargo of 27,500m? of ethane to Norway, where Ineos built an ethane storage tank capable of storing 19,000t of liquefied gas. The company will use the ethane in its Norway cracker as fuel and as a feedstock.
Ineos expects shipments to another storage facility and cracker in Scotland to begin during the second half of 2016. The Scotland facility can store up to 33,000t of ethane.
