OREANDA-NEWS. KAMAZ intends to create a new line engine, and in 2019 to enter the first stage of production by 2017 - to produce 12 thousand units per year.

As the press service of KAMAZ informed, the creating project of new generation of engines KAMAZ started in 2014 and it is now in the stage of development and technological preparation of production. According to the deputy chief engineer of reengineering of engine plant, Fedor Nazarov, all the work on the new engine can be divided into four areas. The first – is the actual development, there are now being tested around 20 prototypes. The second – is the conclusion of contracts for the supply of equipment. Third – is the pre-production at KAMAZ, which does not require the purchase of equipment. Fourth - is the development of all parts and assemblies, the production of which will be implemented in Russia.

There were signed two important contracts for the supply of equipment: for the line of machining and assembly of cylinder head and engine assembly lines. Pre-production design documentation has been received. "In the first quarter, we have to finish the selection of suppliers for all the equipment, by the middle of this year we must conclude all the contracts for the supply”, - says Fedor Nazarov. - In April, the first lot of cylinder head casting should appear. At the end of 2016 the first equipment by contracts will come to the plant.

The challenge for KAMAZ – is to locate on the territory of Russia and CIS countries 80% of the production of new engine components. The main difficulty in the project – is the external influences that cannot be predicted and therefore pass, say at KAMAZ. "In 2013, when the project was started, a lot of imported components were involved in it, there was no risk. But due to the increase in the exchange rate, we have revised the position and now 290 parts should be done in Russia”, - says Fedor Nazarov. – “In parallel, we will launch work on the production of parts at KAMAZ, which do not require the purchase of equipment. "The plants of the auto giant will develop the production of preparations and machining operations of the main engine components - cylinder head, crankshaft, flywheel housing, flywheel, exhaust manifold, sump, timing gear and power take-off, cover of the front cylinder; assembly operation, testing, painting and assembly of engine".

Thus, KAMAZ will produce main parts, which represent 34% of the engine cost. The purpose of the enterprise by the end of the year – is to get all the prototype components, which are made in Russia and at KAMAZ to assemble in the fourth quarter the engine from Russian parts. In 2017, it should appear the first pre-production engine.
