OREANDA-NEWS. AvtoVAZ is ready for the production of a new 1.8-liter engine with a capacity of 122 hp in industrial scale. For a while the line produces one motor every 7-8 minutes but the terms could be reduced to five minutes later, writes the portal "Kolesa.ru".

Planned assembly time of one engine of 1.8 liters - is less than five minutes. The design capacity of the line – is up to 60 thousand engines per year. Currently, the work is underway to complete the set-up of equipment. In February, during the process of debugging of lines for the production of motor 21179 more than 300 engines were produced in the Togliatti plant. In March, it is planned to produce about two hundred of them.

Recall, the engine of 1.8 liters was debuted at LADA XRAY paired with an automated manual transmission. Meanwhile, the new power unit will soon be installed at sedan LADA Vesta - supply of 1.8-liter engines for the LADA at Izhevsk, according to preliminary information, will begin in late spring of 2016. In addition, AvtoVAZ engineers engaged in study of the documentation for the installation of the engine with a capacity of 1.8 liters on LADA Largus. It should be noted, in addition to work on the installation of a new 122-strong engine 21179 on the most popular in Russia Estate car, engineers are also involved in the implementation of other tasks: aggregation of this engine with 5-speed manual transmission JR5 (Renault’s development).
