SSE sounds out new technology for European first in entertainment
OREANDA-NEWS. SSE pioneered a European first in the field of entertainment last weekend as they introduced LISNR technology to the iconic SSE Arena, Wembley.
LISNR is a new communications standard which uses sound to transmit data and content to consumers. When LISNR’s ‘smart tones’ are emitted during live events the ultrasonic signals trigger mobile devices, which then deliver relevant, hyper-targeted messages based on the users location and activity to create a one-of-a-kind, interactive fan experience.
SSE has naming rights to four of the UK’s most popular entertainment venues including The SSE Hydro, the worlds 3rd busiest venue, introduced the technology to enhance the gig goers experience at SSE presents…The Who - a special one off gig on Saturday 13 February.
The revolutionary technology which has been used in the US by NFL teams to enhance football fans in venue experiences means consumers can receive content and experiences to their phone simply through sound. No need for Wi-Fi or mobile signal, no additional infrastructure. Just sound.
SSE’s entertainment agency Material_UK introduced the technology and worked with LISNR to create an experience based app for Andriod which would trigger bespoke, personalised messages and content to audience members. Merchandise discounts, opportunities to win money can’t buy prizes and exclusive event content including stage-times and the set-list were just some of the benefits that were unlocked when a user’s phone picked up the inaudible LISNR sound wave.
Following Saturday’s launch, we will also be rolling the technology out on an Apple version of the app before launching LISNR at The SSE Hydro with an even greater spread of content and experiences.
