OREANDA-NEWS. February 19, 2016. BNY Mellon’s Sean Turner, from our Manchester office in the UK, has been named Banker of the Year at the annual Made in Manchester Awards.

Around 500 guests celebrated the finest young talent in the financial and professional sectors, rewarding excellence in innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, training, development and leadership.

Matt Wells, Manchester Site Executive and winner of the same award in 2014, said: “It’s great to see talent from across the North West being recognized. Sean is wholly deserving of this win.”

Sean joined BNY Mellon's Manchester office as an apprentice 10 years ago and has played an instrumental role in some of its biggest successes, including working on becoming a direct participant and shareholder in the UK Clearing House Automated Payment System and in TARGET2, the equivalent Eurozone payment system.

Wells added: “This win highlights that success is possible for those who join our firm, regardless of the route they take, and the value of young people embracing apprenticeships. If you are leaving school or college, and unsure what to do next, exploring an apprenticeship route could be worth considering, as Sean’s win shows.

“I also want to congratulate Monique Stevenson, a very deserving finalist in the Mentor of the Year Category.”
