OREANDA-NEWS. Sales of passenger cars in Europe increased by 6.3% in January, up to 1 million 093 thousand 565 vehicles. As the representatives of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) noted, a positive trend, which is fixed for 29 months in a row, remains stable that allows them to count on a further increase in demand in the short term. Sales growth was recorded in the most EU countries, including all of the largest car markets in Europe - from 2.9% in the UK to 17.4% in Italy.

As it was noted in the review of the European car market for January, among the manufacturers the highest number of vehicles in the European Union the last month was sold by Volkswagen - 128345 cars (-4%). Second place went to Ford with indicator of 77180 sold cars (+ 11.4%). The third place is occupied by Opel / Vauxhall, which has sold 71 612 cars - more by 12.4% than the year before. Completing The top five leaders is closed by the two French brands - Renault (67,187 units, + 1.5%) and Peugeot (65845 units, + 3.2%).
