Best Cars evaluates vehicles on quality and value data within 23 categories. The vehicle with the highest score is named Best Car for the Money in that category. Quality is measured by the overall score a vehicle achieved in the U.S. News car rankings. The rankings evaluate cars on safety, reliability and the opinions of industry experts. Value is measured by a vehicle’s five-year total cost of ownership and the average price paid for the vehicle.
“Consumers know Hyundai as a value brand,” said Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor of the U.S. News Best Car rankings. “The Tucson’s Best Compact SUV for the Money win, however, shows that it’s an SUV that offers not only great value but also one of the best ownership experiences in the class.”
The all-new 2016 Hyundai Tucson offers bold, athletic exterior styling, a pair of fuel-efficient drivetrains and a roomy, well-appointed interior. It is engineered with advanced safety features, including Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, Backup Warning Sensors and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). The 2016 Tucson also earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS’s) 2016 TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation.
U.S. NEWS BEST CARS
Since 2007, Best Cars, the automotive channel of U.S. News & World Report, has published rankings of the majority of new vehicles sold in America. U.S. News annually publishes the Best Cars awards, including Best Cars for the Money and Best Cars for Families. Best Cars had over 45 million unique visitors over the past year, with over 65 percent of visitors actively shopping for a car. Close to 80 percent of active shoppers reported that the U.S. News Best Cars site influenced their car purchasing decision.
