Northrop Grumman Demonstrates Continued Progress With its Integrated Topside Advance Development Model
OREANDA-NEWS. Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has successfully demonstrated the ability to conduct simultaneous multi-function military missions as part of its ongoing involvement in the Office of Naval Research (ONR) Integrated Topside (InTop) program.
In the demonstrations, conducted in October and November at the Naval Research Labs Chesapeake Bay Detachment facility, electronic warfare, information operations, and communications missions were conducted simultaneously.
The InTop Advance Development Model (ADM) is an innovative, scalable suite of open architecture electronic warfare, information operations and line-of-sight communications hardware and software for use on multiple naval surface platforms. The new suite will reduce the large number of topside antennas currently used on modern ships through the use of advanced electronically scanned array (AESA) technologies.
The ADM capabilities are designed to support multi-function, multi-band, multi-beam wide-band arrays for improving efficiencies and resolving electromagnetic interference and compatibility issues, while reducing noise, size, weight and cost.
"These demonstrations are evidence of our continued progress developing innovative technologies to help the Navy dominate the RF spectrum," said Todd Leavitt, vice president, maritime systems, Northrop Grumman Mission Systems. "The technologies developed through InTop continue to reduce risk and support technology development for critical Navy programs."
