Carsten Wirths named Managing Director of Lufthansa CityLine
OREANDA-NEWS. From March 1st Carsten Wirths will be the new Managing Director and Labour Director at Lufthansa CityLine GmbH with headquarters in Munich. The decision was taken by the Board of Directors of the Lufthansa Group Company. In his function, Wirths is responsible for all commercial aspects, the IT sector, as well as HR management for approximately 2,200 employees. He succeeds Stephan Klar, who will in future lead a strategic corporate project in Frankfurt. Jörg Eberhart will continue to be responsible for the operative business, especially flight operations and aircraft maintenance. With around 60 aircraft, Lufthansa CityLine connects over 75 European and intercontinental destinations with Lufthansa hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. Carsten Wirths was born July 11, 1968 in Cologne. After finishing his professional training at a bank and subsequent military service, he studied business administration at Cologne University and completed his studies in 1996 with a Master's degree. After his studies Carsten Wirths worked as a management consultant for Andersen Consulting (now: Accenture) in Düsseldorf before becoming Senior Supply Chain Manager at Lufthansa Cargo AG in Frankfurt in January, 1999. Since then he has held various management positions in the Lufthansa Group; he was, among other things, head of operations for Düsseldorf and North-Rhine Westphalia. On June 1, 2011 Carsten Wirths was named Vice President for Europe and Africa at Lufthansa Cargo, where he was responsible for the sales and handling at around 120 locations in more than 90 countries.
