OREANDA-NEWS. According to the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", as of January 2016, in Russia, there are about 3.8 thousand car dealers. This is less by 7% than a year ago, when their number exceeded 4000.

Among the most notable players in the market the dealer networks reduced most strongly at Chevrolet (-68% to 51 units) and Opel (-42% to 87 units), which actually rolled up their businesses in our country. The third part of dealers was lost by Great Wall (54 units) and Peugeot (up to 51 units), from 20% to 25% it was lost by Geely (69 units), Suzuki (up to 53 units) and SsangYong (up to 100 units). Patriotic brand LADA still has the most of dealerships in the Russian Federation (320 units), but over the year their number fell by 16%. However, there is observed an increase in dealers among several manufacturers. Thus, the majority of new dealers appeared at domestic UAZ (+31% up to 165 units). Jaguar dealer network grew by 20% (up to 55 units), Hyundai - 13% (up to 155 units), Lexus - 12% (up to 46 units). However, there are such companies that are limited only by the rotation of dealers, by closing some auto centers and opening new ones. As a general rule, changes in their dealer networks are negligible (Nissan, Volkswagen, Skoda, Toyota).

According to the director of analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", Sergey Tselikov, the total number of dealerships in Russia, apparently, will continue to decline as the market decline continues. But some brands are still expanding their dealer networks, for example, the Korean Hyundai and KIA, whose share is growing. The same trend will be observed at some of the premium brands with strong positions in the Russian market.
