OREANDA-NEWS. February 05, 2016. Louise L. Roseman, director of the Division of Reserve Bank Operations and Payment Systems, will retire later this year after more than 30 years of service to the Federal Reserve Board, including 17 as director.

The division oversees the Reserve Banks' operations, including their provision of payment services to the banking and financial system and fiscal agency services to the Treasury and other government agencies. It also supports the Board's responsibilities as the issuance authority for U.S. currency; develops regulations and policies governing payment, clearing, and settlement systems; supervises systemically important financial market infrastructures; supports efforts to foster the efficiency and integrity of the U.S. payments system more broadly; and conducts research on a variety of payment, clearing, and settlement topics.

"Louise's vision and energy during a time of rapid technological innovation have contributed enormously to the Federal Reserve's important mission of fostering a safe and efficient payment system," said Chair Janet L. Yellen. "We thank her for her dedicated service."

Ms. Roseman began her career at the Board in 1985 when she joined the division as a program leader. She was appointed to official staff in 1987, promoted to associate director in 1994, and made division director in 1999. She holds a B.A. from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. from George Washington University. The Board will begin a search for her successor.
