OREANDA-NEWS. Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution has resumed normal operations after restoring power to all customers who were affected by Storm Henry.

In total, the storm disrupted supplies of 14,600 customers. Despite gale force winds, torrential rain, floods, snow and lightning, across much of SHEPD’s network, engineering teams were able to restore electricity quickly because of advance preparation. An additional 200 staff were drafted in as part of this preparation, and mobilised to key locations that were forecast to be adversely affected by the storm.   

Dale Cargill, Director of Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution, apologised to customers for the disruption to their electricity supply and thanked them for the support they have shown SHEPD’s engineering teams. “We have had two severe storms, Gertrude and Henry, one straight after the other. This caused tremendous inconvenience and disruption to the daily routines of our customers. I have been really touched by their warm and kind words – our customers recognise the horrendous conditions our teams have had to endure over the past week to restore supplies. On behalf of our engineers and support staff I would like thank our customers for the support they have given us.”
