OREANDA-NEWS.  Adelaide, South Australia: BAE Systems will invest around $2 million to expand its operations at Edinburgh Defence Precinct as part of a long-term strategy to improve the Company’s competitiveness and readiness for future growth.

Manufacturing and sustainment activities currently undertaken at the Company’s Holden Hill and Wingfield facilities will move to the Edinburgh Parks headquarters by the end of this year.

BAE Systems Australia Chief Operating Officer David Bond said: “Co-locating our activities on the one site will allow us to present an impressive through-life capability as a major defence company from research and development to production, sustainment and service operations.

“Siting our valuable defence vehicle manufacturing and integrated systems technology operations at Edinburgh Parks is a strategic move to bring these activities into South Australia’s premier Defence Precinct and closer to some of our major customers. As it is, both operations are at capacity at their current locations and this decision provides both businesses with the space to expand in line with anticipated future growth.”

The 125 staff currently working at the Holden Hill and Wingfield sites will move to Edinburgh Parks over the course of this year. There are no anticipated job losses associated with this decision.
