Deutsche Telekom: Cyber trends directly from the Think Tank
OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2016. Everyone is talking about security risks and demanding reliable solutions – but: what kinds of solutions are out there? Let's take a look at the startup scene, which is working already today on the solutions of tomorrow.
Industry 4.0 is the hot topic of the day. As well as the question: how can I ensure secure communication in a networked world? How can I be sure that communication only takes place between devices that are actually allowed to "talk" to each other? Mokayan from England came up with one answer. It's called ThingBlox and promises a simple yet secure link between devices and the Internet. Or SCADAfence from Israel: their solution guarantees secure operation of industrial networks, completely eliminating manipulation and data theft.
Sound promising? It is. But that's not all. At the second Security Bootcamp organized by Berlin-based "hub:raum", other startups from throughout Europe and Israel presented their ideas, including in the categories of "Vulnerability Management" and "Endpoint Security". The trend in vulnerability management is heading in the direction of affordable solutions for small and medium-size enterprises and solutions that continuously monitor applications connected to the Internet. Monitoring vulnerabilities on websites from the cloud: Intruder, a company from London (UK), is working on a solution in this area. Minerva Labs from Tel-Aviv (Israel) presented a solution for "end protection" that can detect as yet unknown malware and force it to deactivate itself. It then integrates the lessons learned for the next attack. Simple, affordable and still highly effective encryption is also an issue in 2016. Crypho from Norway is a mobile web application that can be used to exchange confidential information in private groups over the Internet.
And it's no coincidence that hub:raum is the host of the Security Bootcamp. Deutsche Telekom's startup incubator invests in young startups and now also has programs in Krakow and Tel Aviv. hub:raum most recently invested in ciValue. This Israeli team was founded in April 2014 and offers retailers a cloud-based big data platform to optimize their customer retention strategy. hub:raum acts as an interface between the rapidly moving startup world and companies, and is part of Telekom's future initiative, which focuses on increasing collaboration.
