OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2016. Exelon today announced that its board of directors has elected Nancy L. Gioia as a director, effective Feb. 1, 2016. Gioia, 55, retired as Director of Global Connectivity, Electrical and User Experience at Ford Motor Co. in 2014.

"Nancy brings a unique perspective to Exelon's board of directors, and we are pleased to be working with her," said Mayo Shattuck, chairman of Exelon. "Her extensive background in innovation and product development will be a significant contribution to our business."

Gioia will serve on the board of directors' Finance and Risk and Generation Oversight Committees.

Among her achievements during a more than 30-year career at Ford, Gioia led the company's global electrification efforts. In this role, she developed the technology, vehicle programs and value chain strategies as well as assessing the economic, social and environmental impacts including consumer insights and acceptance.  She worked closely with the Edison Electric Institute, the U.S. Department of Energy and the engineers at Ford to pilot and implement the strategy.

At Ford, Gioia also shaped and implemented a global strategy on the connected car, consumer and company. She created an avenue for new consumer experiences and a transformed learning environment through big data and analytics.

Gioia's career at Ford began as an electrical engineer and advanced steadily over three decades.

Gioia also is a member of the board of directors for Brady Corporation. She earned a master's degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Stanford University and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
