Ford Korea Reveals Winners of Mustang Microfilm Race Contest
OREANDA-NEWS. Ford recently held the Mustang Microfilm Race video contest for fans of the Mustang and visual art production. The unique social project invited amateur video producers to create a 30-second video illustrating the “Mustang spirit”, and using a keyword, such as freedom, independence, challenge, or passion. The event also took place to celebrate the first anniversary of the launch of the 6th generation Mustang in Korea.
Ford Korea casted Director Suk-Gyung Lee, renowned for her 2009 Berlin International Film Festival award winning “The Day After”, and Director So-Young Cho, a top-notch music video director in Korea, as external judges. Out of 43 contestants, six finalists were selected based on the video’s degree of completion, relevance, aesthetics, and other criteria.
First prize went to ‘Transformation’ by Jongmin Baek, who dynamically captured the powerful and energetic spirit of the Mustang in his work. In a time-lapse format, he expresses the 50-year history of the Mustang through his own facial and bodily expressions as an actor who is always pursuing transformation.
The winner, along with five other participation award winners, received KRW 7.5 million for successfully interpreted the Mustang spirit, using diverse and unique techniques.
“I decided to participate in the contest after Mustang left a remarkably strong impression on me at the Seoul Motor Show in 2015,” said Jongmin. “It was an opportunity for me to learn about the Mustang from different angles, from the very first Mustang in 1964 to the current sixth generation. The experience was also meaningful in that I compare my own spirit with that of Mustang, an icon of the era.”
All of the selected works will be professionally edited together into one unique video to be used for promoting the Mustang brand in February.
“In addition to the six selected works, all of the submitted videos were creative and shed light on the Mustang spirit from fresh angles,” said Sunhee Noh, communication manager, Ford Korea. “Ford Korea appreciates all the participants who worked hard to capture Mustang in different ways”.
