Ford Sollers plant in Naberezhnye Chelny began the serial equipment of subcompact crossover EcoSport with engines produced in Russia, the production of which is adjusted on the new engine-building plant in Yelabuga. After the completion of the winter holidays, the plant also began to produce engines for the advanced range of vehicle equipment of Ford, informed the press service of Fors Sollers.

Model EcoSport got Russian engine 1.6 liter Duratec with a capacity of 122 hp after the new Ford Fiesta, which is equipped with engines manufactured by Ford Sollers with a capacity of 85, 105 and 120 hp from October of 2015. Atmospheric petrol engine of 1.6 liter Duratec will be equipped three Russian-made models of Ford - Ford Fiesta in sedan and hatchback versions, subcompact crossover Ford EcoSport and the new Ford Focus.

Engine plant in Yelabuga is located in the territory of the free economic zone "Alabuga", in close proximity to one of the three automotive companies Ford Sollers in Russia. Total investments in the project were 275 million dollars. The annual capacity of the plant at the first stage is 105 thousand engines, with a possible further increase up to 200,000 engines per year. At least 30% of produced in Russia Ford vehicles will be equipped with local engines.

As part of the long-term strategy by localization Ford Sollers since the start of production the manufactured engines have a significant level of localization, by getting the basic components from Russian suppliers, and they are made from local raw materials. The new plant is equipped with advanced, high-tech equipment which permitted to automate the production process by 95%. Production of the engine includes the machining of the crankshaft, cylinder head and cylinder block, assembly line and quality control line.
