OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, and the Department of Industry, Transports, Telecommunications and Energy have signed an agreement on cooperation in developing telecom sector. Under the document, the company will invest 1.5 bn rubles into development of the region’s mobile infrastructure over the next three years.

The agreement has been signed by Tele2 Chief Operations Officer Dmitriy Lopatukhin and Aleksandr Konstantinov, Deputy Governor and Head of the Department of Industry, Telecommunications, Transports and Energy in Kurgan Region. The agreement is seeking to lay foundation for cooperation between Tele2 and Kurgan Region’s government for development of up-to-date and high-quality information and communication technologies on the territory of the region.

As a part of the agreement, Tele2 will continue rolling out its network in the region and developing high-speed wireless Internet. The project implies both a large-scale construction of new base stations and modernization of existing facilities.

Dmitriy Lopatukhin, Chief Operations Officer at Tele2:

“Tele2 launched operations under its brand in Kurgan Region six months ago. Demand on high-quality and modern mobile services at low prices is confirmed by the growth of our subscriber base in the region, which has doubled since August 2015. As a part of the agreement we are going not only to invest considerable funds into development of mobile services and infrastructure but also actively take part in social projects in the region.”

Aleksandr Konstantinov, Deputy Governor & Head of the Department of Industry, Telecommunications, Transports and Energy in Kurgan Region:

“It is crucially important nowadays to have access to high-quality mobile services – provided at high speeds and affordable prices. Along with any other infrastructure, mobile services are shaping a social portrait of the territory. By creating comfortable living conditions in various residential areas, we preserve and add to the region’s economic potential. We can be sure that the government will prioritize its work over investment projects targeted at the development of the region. This was a reason for the department and Tele2 to sign an agreement. I am sure that in cooperation we will be able to create all necessary conditions so that Trans-Urals residents could have access to high-quality and modern services at affordable prices.”
