Nissan TITAN Warrior Concept and 2016 GT-R NISMO to make national debut at the Canadian International Auto Show
Nissan is putting an exclamation point on the start of sales of its all-new 2016 TITAN XD by displaying a super-sized, off-road modified design study called the TITAN Warrior Concept. Nissan Design America (NDA) took the TITAN XD's production design to new extremes with unapologetic, aggressive, athletic styling features that declare the concept's off-road adventure intent and Nissan's optimism for the truck market. For 2016, the GT-R NISMO continues to hold court as the most potent production vehicle in Nissan history. Practically a race care in street clothing, the GT-R NISMO was designed to explore the upper limits of performance, and NISMO, Nissan's motorsports and performance group, continues to burnish its legendary reputation.
"Nissan's 'Warrior' pair, the TITAN Warrior Concept and Rogue Warrior, are sure to provide excitement on the show floor at the 2016 Toronto Auto Show, showcasing Nissan's supreme off-road capabilities," says Joni Paiva, President, Nissan Canada Inc. "We are thrilled to show Canadians the highly anticipated GT-R NISMO, which delivers an even higher level of street-legal driving excitement with one of the most legendary sports cars in history."
About the TITAN Warrior Concept
Just as the all-new TITAN XD with its Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine has bulked up the standards for customers shopping the light-duty pickup class, the TITAN Warrior Concept was created to take the production version to the extreme.
The TITAN Warrior Concept builds on the recent Project Titan, a crowd-sourced customization of an original-generation Titan that sent two U.S. military veterans representing Wounded Warrior Project® on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in Alaska. The new concept truck also pays homage to Nissan's heritage of off-road racing and adventuring, which goes back to the days of Baja "Hardbody" competition pickups and Paris-Dakar Rally treks.
About the 2016 GT-R NISMO
The 2016 Nissan GT-R NISMO employs innovation, uncompromising engineering and motorsports-inspired technologies to achieve its exceptional levels of power, speed and handling. Under the hood, the 3.8-litre V6 VR38DETT engine benefits from the expertise that NISMO has gained from participating in motorsports events around the globe. Engine power has been increased (versus standard GT-R models) and is rated at 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque**. High-flow, large diameter turbochargers, used in GT3 competition, improve breathing, while optimized individual ignition timing control for each cylinder and upgraded fuel pump improve combustion.
As with all 2016 GT-R models, each GT-R NISMO engine is hand-assembled from beginning to end in a special clean room by specially trained technicians, a process similar to racing powerplant construction. An aluminum plate is added to the front of each engine showing the name of the "Takumi" engine craftsman.
Available in very limited numbers in Canada, the GT-R NISMO joins the established 2016 GT-R Premium and GT-R Black Edition vehicles in the GT-R lineup.
