The European car market reached a 5-year maximum in 2015
OREANDA-NEWS. Sales of passenger cars in Europe in 2015 grew by 9.2% up to 14 million 202 thousand 024 vehicles. According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (EAMA), a positive trend is observed for the second year in a row, but in the last year the European market was able to overcome only the indicator of 2010, recorded immediately after the global financial crisis. In other words, despite the positive trend, the level of car sales in Europe remains low, noted in EAMA.
As noted in the review of the European car market in 2015, the largest number among automakers vehicles it was sold in the European Union by Volkswagen - 1,727, 094 cars (+ 6.5%). Second place went to Ford with 1 002 875 sold cars (+ 8.6%). The third place went to Renault, which sold 975 450 cars – more by 11.2% than the year before. Opel / Vauxhall closes the "top five" of leaders (942 128 units; + 6.3%) and Peugeot (856 091 units; + 8.9%).
