OREANDA-NEWS. A new process train (process train B) has been brought into operation at the central processing facility at Iraq’s Badra field, operator of which is Gazprom Neft. The commissioning of this new infrastructure facility will allow an increase in capacity at the central processing facility, from 45,000 to 85,000 barrels per day. Process train B is intended for the treatment and separation of hydrocarbons, and is designed to receive oil from all wells at the Badra field.

Process train C is expected to be brought into operation in 2016, allowing the central processing facility to reach its full planned capacity of 115,000 barrels per day. Prior to its full utilisation, process train C will be used as a backup facility in order to minimise losses during the planned refurbishment and repair of oil treatment facilities.

Head of Gazprom Neft Major Projects Directorate Denis Sugaipov commented: “The Badra project is developing rapidly — and this experience is very important to our company. We expect to complete drilling of four new wells at this field in 2016. The commissioning of a new process train will underpin the infrastructure essential to increasing production.”
