OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2016. In a major decision, the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) today decided to support 9 transport infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana that will substantially improve traffic flow besides reducing pollution benefitting Delhi and adjoining areas. The Project Sanctioning & Monitoring Group of NCRPB chaired by Shri Madhusudhan Prasad, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development today discussed these projects costing Rs.7,838 cr and decided to support them with a total loan assistance of Rs.3,113 cr.

According to Shri B.K.Tripathy, Member-Secretary, NCRPB, this was the highest loan assistance approved in a single meeting of the Board.Shri Durga Shanker Mishra, Additional Secretary(Urban Development), Senior officials of the Ministry of Urban Development, NCRPB, DDA, DMRC, Delhi Police, Governments of UP and Haryana attended today’s meeting.

Two infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh will cost Rs.6,681 cr for which NCRPB will provide a loan of Rs.2,287 cr. Haryana has proposed projects 7 projects at a total cost of Rs.1,157 cr and will get a loan of Rs.726 cr.

NCRPB will provide a loan of Rs.700 cr towards development of six lane Elevated Road in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. This 10.30 km long six lane elevated road with a single pier is the first of its kind in the country, being developed by the Ghaziabad Development Authority at an estimated cost of Rs.1,148 cr and is targeted for completion by the end of 2016. This road taking off from near UP Gate and ending at Rajnagar Extension connects NH-24 with NH-58 and will serve as a by-pass ending traffic problems on Kosambi-Mohannagar-Vaishali section. Ghaziabad Development Authority intends to have a self-sustained urban settlement in the area duly connected to adjacent areas through express traffic corridors. On completion of this project, travel time between UP Gate and Hindon Bridge is expected to come down from the present 50 minutes to about 15 minutes.

NCRPB will also finance the 29.70 km long Rs.5,533 cr Noida-Greater Noida Metro Project with a loan assistance of Rs.1,587 cr. This metro line connects City Junction in Sector-71 with Depot Station in Sector 142. Of this line, 70% runs through Noida which meets the rising demand for public transport besides stimulating development in Greater Noida. This is subject to final approval by the Government of India.

Of the projects proposed by Haryana Government for NCRPB assistance, development of 52.33 km long access controlled Manesar-Palwal Expressway at a cost of Rs.458 cr will get a loan support of Rs.343.85 cr from NCRPB. This western peripheral road  connects NH-8 with NH-2 enablingdiversion of non-Delhi bound vehicles resulting in substantial reduction in traffic and attendant pollution in Delhi. This Supreme Court monitored project is likely to be completed in 12 months.

Improvement of 38.41 km Gurgaon-Pataudi-Rewari Road on State Highway-26 at a cost of Rs.354 cr will get a loan of Rs.265.50 cr from NCRPB. Running parallel to NH-8, this will address traffic problems at Hero Honda Chowk and other places.

5.80 km long Elevated road on NH-10 from Chottu Ram Chowk to Old Bus Stand in Rohtak at a cost of Rs.153 cr will decongest city roads. This project will get a loan of Rs.115 cr from NCRPB.

Besides, Haryana Government will construct 4 ROBs at railway crossings – 4 lane ROB at Lakhanmajra Meham Road on Delhi-Bhatinda line in Rohtak district at a cost of Rs.56 cr, 2 lane ROB on Jind-Panipat section along Delhi water carrier link channel, 2 lane ROB on Panipat-Kabri road on Jind-Panipat section at a cost of Rs.29 cr and construction of  additional 2 lane ROB at Dabra Chowk, Hissar on Hissar-Sadalpur line at a cost of Rs.165 cr. NCRPB will provide loans totaling Rs.102 cr for these ROB projects.
