National Bank of Ukraine to Receive Technical Assistance from Narodowy Bank Polski
OREANDA-NEWS. The National Bank of Ukraine has hosted a meeting with representatives from Narodowy Bank Polski to discuss technical assistance to be provided to Ukraine's regulator in 2016-2018.
The members of the Polish delegation restated their support for reforms undertaken by the NBU and outlined potential areas to be covered by technical assistance.
The Technical Cooperation programme 2016+ approved by Narodowy Bank Polski has identified Ukraine as one of the priority partners that have access to an extended range of topic-based technical assistance opportunities as part of horizontal cooperation between the two countries.
The technical assistance programme covers the following areas:
- monetary policy and its tools;
- financial stability;
- payment systems;
- statistics;
- cash circulation, currency issuance;
- foreign exchange reserves management;
- financial risk management.
The NBU regards technical assistance projects as an opportunity to explore best practices of other central banks to address specific problems and tasks.
The NBU cooperates with a number of central banks across the world, such as the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, De Nederlandsche Bank, Banque de France, Sveriges Riksbank, the Deutsche Bundesbank and others.
Additionally, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) has been implementing the Technical Assistance Project “NBU Institutional Capacity Building for Effective Policy Making” since 2009. The TA Project is funded by the International Monetary Fund.
