SAP Canada Named a Top Employer for Young People for 2016
OREANDA-NEWS. Just two months after announcing SAP is one of Canada’s Top Employers, the company has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for Young People for 2016.
Companies that receive this award are leading the charge in developing programs to attract and retain younger employees to their organizations. The Editors of Canada’s Top 100 examine available programming, including mentoring and training opportunities, that help young talents advance through the corporate ranks faster than other companies. “These employers also profit by giving young talent a voice, allowing them to put forward ideas that add value and bring fresh energy to the workplace,” according to Canada’s Top Employer’s website.
Jewell Parkinson, senior vice president of HR for SAP North America, agrees with staff editors that companies that typically receive this award embrace disruptiveness. “At SAP, we are always talking about the art of the possible and how there really are no limits to what we can do. It is important for us to foster an inclusive workplace which invites all of our employees to disrupt the status quo, bring new ideas to the table, and help SAP drive innovation in our business and with our customers.”
And so SAP has developed programs and incentives for young people to do just that. Here are just some of things SAP Canada offers to young employees for which it has received accolades:
SAP Canada provides high performing young talents an opportunity to participate in SAP’s Social Sabbatical Program. These short-term assignments provide millennials an opportunity to solve business challenges for small and medium sized businesses in emerging markets.
Young talents can job shadow and gain experience with a number of different departments with SAP’s two-year Early Talent Programs where they rotate through a variety of roles.
Among the 200 internship roles across the country, SAP student interns can work for a 10-week period learning best practices in product support. This initiative is in partnership with the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s (BCIT) Business Information Technology Management Program.
“This is the second time SAP Canada has received this award, and we couldn’t be happier,” said Agi Garaba, Head of HR, SAP Canada. “Awards such as this one makes SAP an attractive employer to young people and they are an important part of our recruiting focus and strategy. We also consider the five generations we have working at SAP when developing programs to support our talent philosophy.”
