OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2016.  National Australia Bank (NAB) has created a \\$100,000 Community Recovery Fund that will help communities impacted by last week’s Harvey and Waroona bushfires in Western Australia to recover and rebuild.

Community organisations that have lost infrastructure and/or assets in the fires, or directly serve the needs of the affected communities, can apply for grants of up to \\$10,000 from the fund to help rebuilding efforts.

“We are turning our attention to the challenging task of helping Yarloop and other towns and communities recover and rebuild,” said Tracey Clarke, General Manager, NAB Retail, Western Australia.

“It will be a long and hard process for many people and we want to give support where it is really needed.

“The Community Recovery Fund we have announced today is in addition to our relief package for customers, so whether you are a sporting club that needs to replace facilities, or a home owner that needs a break from your mortgage, we are here to assist you.”

Additionally, NAB today started collecting donations to support Red Cross disaster relief and recovery work. NAB will match the donations up to a total of \\$25,000.

Donations can be made over-the-counter at any NAB branch in Australia, or by logging on to internet banking at nab.com.au. Select Funds Transfer " Donation " Charity " Red Cross for WA Bushfire.

NAB also made a \\$25,000 donation to Red Cross, which is supporting recovery efforts of communities impacted by a range of disasters this year, such as last week’s Harvey and Waroona bushfires in Western Australia, the Great Ocean Road bushfires, the Pinery bushfires in South Australia and floods in NSW and Daly River in the Northern Territory.

Community organisations can visit a NAB branch or talk to a NAB banker for more information on how to apply for a grant from the Community Recovery Fund.
