OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2016. “Under the audit results with regard to the Canadian pork and beef producers, held by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SPSA), 15 enterprises are allowed to supply products to Ukraine. This applies to 3 enterprises producing beef and 12 enterprises producing pork”, Oleksii Pavlenko, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, stressed.

The list of enterprises can be found at the SPSA’s official website – vet.gov.ua in the Section “Enterprises that Passed Inspection”.

Ukraine has permitted the export of pork from any Canadian enterprise registered on the federal level, fully complying with the certification criteria. Following the successful completion of the inspection in September 2015, the number of companies that have been entitled to the rights to export products to Ukraine has reached 27.

Currently, the process of adjustment and signing of a bilateral Annex to the certificate is pending. The Annex would set the conditions for the recognition of the food quality control system’s equivalence of Canada and Ukraine. This process would allow the Canadian counterparts to certify their enterprises for pork and beef export to Ukraine without holding checks at each enterprise by Ukrainian inspectors.

At the same time, Ukraine under the international law reserves the right to conduct random inspection visits at the facilities of importing companies.
