Project of TATNEFT Has Been Assigned a National Project Status
OREANDA-NEWS. The project of PJSC TATNEFT "Technology Development for hydroconversion of heavy petroleum feedstock to produce high-quality fuels, oils and raw materials for petrochemical processes” has been assigned the status of the national project.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the working group headed by A.V. Novak, the Minister, at the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation for selecting national projects for introduction of innovative technologies and advanced materials in the energy sector. The Company’s project is the first national project of advanced conversion of oil residues with high yields, including conversion rates.
The selection of national projects is carried out within the framework of an action plan ("Roadmap") "Introduction of innovative technologies and modern materials in the fuel and energy complex’ sectors", approved by the RF Government Decree No127-r dated July 03, 2014. This document provides for implementing a set of measures aimed at introduction of innovative technologies and modern materials in the fuel and energy complex, as well as support for research and development activities in the priority areas of energy-related technologies.
Work on the assignment of the national project status took a long time and was carried out in several stages by professionals of PJSC TATNEFT together with experts of OOO "INCO-TEK", OOO "ONH-Holding", INHS of the Russian Academy of Science (RAS) jointly with specialists from the Ministry of Energy of Russia, ROSNANO, as well as the expert and the scientific communities.
The project of PJSC TATNEFT envisages the development of a domestic hydroconversion technology: a process of deep processing of heavy oil residues and high-viscosity oil into motor fuel and raw materials for the petrochemical industry. The project of the Company is the first domestic project of advanced high performance conversion for heavy oil residues. The hydroconversion technology presented has a number of advantages versus foreign analogues, as well as prospects for its implementation and replication both inside the country as well as abroad. Based on the data provided by the Energy Ninistry of the Russian Federation there are at least 9 Russian refineries interested in introducing the hydroconversion technology. Application of this technology will allow increasing the crude oil conversion depth in the Russian Federation increasing the export potential of Russian oil by the amount of up to 30 million tonnes, replacing the export of mazut with the export of high quality petroleum products, contributing to the cooperation of a number of sectors (science, engineering, machine building, construction, petroleum refining and metallurgy) and making a significant contribution to reaching the national policy performance targets in the suel and energy sector.
