OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2016. Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution (SHEPD) is no longer operating on Yellow Alert but remains aware of the changing weather situation – which is being constantly monitored – and continues to work round the clock in the flood affected areas of the north east of Scotland, Angus and Tayside.

Engineers remain in the worst hit areas and are working with partner agencies to make sure any homes or businesses without power supplies can be restored safely and at the earliest opportunity.

Although water levels have fallen through the day, severe challenges remain but SHEPD is here to help with extra call-taking staff available to provide advice and assistance to customers whose power supplies are affected on 0800 300 999. Anyone returning to their homes following the flooding should contact SHEPD on the same number to arrange for us to carry out the relevant safety checks to their electricity supply.

SHEPD would like to thank its customers and partner agencies - including SEPA, Scottish Fire and Rescue and Police Scotland - for their cooperation and understanding as it contributes to the recovery effort and plans permanent repairs to its network equipment where temporary arrangements have been used to restore power supplies faster.
