People’s Choice Awards announced today that the 2016 awards show, broadcast on January 6th on the CBS Television Network, has generated more than 24.8MM organic video views to date on People’s Choice Facebook (3 seconds or more). During and following the live broadcast, #PCAs was the top organic trending topic of the night on Twitter with three other related topics included in the top 10: host Jane Lynch and winners Vin Diesel (Furious 7, Favorite Movie) and Chris Hemsworth (Favorite Action Movie Actor).

The most engaging post to date on People’s Choice Facebook is winner Vin Diesel’s emotional acceptance speech, reaching 35.7MM fans and generating 10.2MM views. Also on Facebook, video for Chris Hemsworth’s sincere speech reached 7.9MM fans and delivered 2.5MM video views. Ellen DeGeneres’s touching yet comical speech following her win for Favorite Humanitarian hit home with fans, generating 1.1MM video views across People’s Choice Facebook and Twitter. Additional digital and social platform highlights include:

Twitter: Total tweets were up 37% vs. 2015 with unique authors increasing 30% night of show. In both cases, tweets for PCA 2016 were more than six times those of the competition, American Idol (source: Nielsen Social Rankings). Video views on People’s Choice Twitter totaled 3.8MM– up 903% over last year. The engagement rate on show night boasted a high of 19%, soaring past the industry standard for the entertainment category (source: Twitter).

Facebook: Winners Dakota Johnson (Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress) and Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory, Favorite New TV Drama) trended on Facebook’s top Trends tab the day after the broadcast. While total Facebook views with 3 seconds or more are over 24.8MM, PCA 2016 Facebook views with 30 seconds or more total 9.4MM – up 1090% over last year.

PCA: PeoplesChoice.com achieved an increase of 89% vs. 2015 for total blog page views on January 6th and 7th.

YouTube: PCA 2016 garnered an increase of over 200% for total video views vs. 2015.

On show night, People’s Choice partnered with select media organizations for various activations on the red carpet and backstage to increase engagement opportunities for fans. Twitter provided the official PCA 2016 Twitter Mirror, BuzzFeed offered a Twitter Challenger application and Bustle created a Boomerang Station, with all three partners pushing out content across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

People’s Choice Instagram featured exclusive photos from the official PCA Getty portrait studio backstage, which served to increase People’s Choice Instagram followers by 25% over 2015. #peopleschoiceawards was also a trending topic on Instagram during the night. The peopleschoice Snapchat had an ongoing story throughout show night, including Snaps from the red carpet and backstage. Live streams from the PCA 2016 red carpet aired on People’s Choice Periscope and, in partnership with CBS, on Meerkat.
