Delta kicks off its NFL postseason run
OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2016. This week begins the NFL playoffs for Delta, with the airline poised to carry six of the 12 postseason NFL teams. They're the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks and the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots.
During the regular season Delta also carried the Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons and San Diego Chargers for a total of nine of 32 NFL teams.
“This is a special time of the year as we are in the peak of NFL and college football postseason,” said Bill Wernecke, Director–Charters Operations. “Delta employees are huge sports fans, but today we are laser-focused on the business of efficiently and safely moving teams, their equipment and fans between destinations. Every day is our regular season, but this is our championship run.”
This weekend, Delta will carries Seattle and Green Bay to their respective matchups in Minneapolis and Washington, D.C.
Delta is the official airline of both the Seahawks and Vikings, who are a playing a rematch of a Dec. 6 contest won by Seattle. Ironically Sunday’s game is forecast to be played in a game-time temperature of about -2 degrees, which would make it one of coldest games in NFL history. It could be the Vikings' last outdoor game before they move into their new state-of-the-art U.S. Bank Stadium next season.
Delta, which has earned the designation of the Official Airline of Champions, has carried five of the past six Super Bowl champions.
