OREANDA-NEWS. Customer service experts from energy company SSE will be running a series of roadshows to highlight the range of schemes available to help those in the Western Isles facing fuel poverty.

The roadshows are being run at a range of venues from Monday 11 January , including Stornoway and Barvas on the Isle of Lewis, before finishing in Lochs and Uig on Thursday 14 January. 

A number of schemes are available to help those facing fuel poverty, including the Warm Home Discount, worth ?140, and the Priority Assistance Fund; applications for both must be submitted soon. 

SSE also operates a Priority Service Register, benefit entitlement checks, and offers advice on energy efficiency and billing. 

Louise Bailey, Vulnerability Strategy Manager for SSE, said: “We are delighted to be spending time in the Western Isles. This will allow us to spend one to one time with our customers to discuss available help and assistance we provide, in particular, help with paying bills. 

“I would encourage SSE customers to attend if they need any help with their account or heating system controls and let our team of experts offer face to face advice.”

SSE is committed to helping vulnerable customers in the Western Isles. For example, since the beginning of the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO), the government scheme through which energy suppliers fund insulation measures in customers’ homes, it has spent over ?4m in the Western Isles. 

SSE has also dedicated a sizable proportion of its Warm Home Discount expenditure to the Western Isles. 

The drop-in sessions will be held from 6-8pm in the following locations:
