Alstom is taking over the maintenance of regional trains in Western Sweden
OREANDA-NEWS. Alstom, together with Bombardier, is taking over the maintenance of 91 commuter and regional trains owned by Västtrafik in the Västra Götaland county, located on the western coast of Sweden. Alstom, will perform the maintenance operations of 63 of the trains in the Gothenburg depots of Motorvagnshallen and Sävenäs, with a workforce of 40 including 25 employees taken-over by Alstom from the former maintainer.
The maintenance of the trains, operated SJ Götalandståg for Västtrafik, will be carried out during 9 years, starting 13 December 2015 with a possible option for three additional years. In total, this contract takes to over 200 the number of trains maintained by Alstom in Sweden, including 134 commuter trains in Stockholm, and 15 regional trains for Östtrafik, the maintenance of which Alstom took over in June 15 for a 10-year period.
"Alstom is growing in Sweden and this new contract reinforces our presence in Western Sweden. Alstom, who has delivered most of the trains owned by Västtrafik, will now ensure a high availability of the Coradia Nordic trains and focus on delivering good reliability. Since we signed the contract, we have been working on the transfer of the new employees to be ready from day one," says Per Öster Managing Director of Alstom Nordics.
