Ford Smart Mobility Hsuehsan Tunnel Transformer Challenge Results and New Ford Ranger Announced at 2016 Taipei Auto Show
Thomas Fann, president, Ford Lio Ho, provided a comprehensive summary of Ford’s dedication and vision in promoting Ford Smart Mobility before announcing the winners of the Hsuehshan Tunnel Transformer Challenge. The challenge is part of Ford’s Innovate Mobility Challenge Series (IMCS) 2.0, which invites developers from around the world to tackle mobility issues by providing solutions to meet the unique needs of different communities.
Hsuehshan Tunnel, which connects the city of Taipei to the northeastern county of Yilan, suffers from serious congestion. For the challenge, Ford partnered with Taiwan’s Institute for Information Industry to invite app developers from around the world to submit innovative solutions for easing traffic problems in the tunnel.
After the announcement of the winners of the app challenge, Carol Lin, general marketing manager, Ford Lio Ho, announced the Taiwan debut of the new Ford Ranger, and highlighted its rugged capability. Media in attendance expressed their optimism about the launch of the Ranger in Taiwan.
“The new Ford Ranger builds upon the world-class capabilities of its predecessor,” said Lin. “A winning combination of style, exceptional craftsmanship, and improved functionality make it the toughest Ranger ever.”
FLH also demonstrated the possibilities of the EcoBoost engine by giving journalists a unique opportunity to inspect a Formula Ford EcoBoost race car. This small, 1.0-liter EcoBoost-powered race car has proved itself by leaving powerful supercars in its wake at famed N?rburgring circuit in Germany.
The 1.0L EcoBoost engine, four-time winner of the International Engine of the Year Award, delivers strong performance and excellent fuel efficiency in a package small enough to fit in a carry-on suitcase. The Formula Ford EcoBoost is a solid validation of the outstanding performance of the 1.0L engine.
Ford is committed to offering consumers a diverse range of powertrains combining excellent performance with high fuel efficiency and low emissions. This includes a variety of choices that suit consumers’ individual needs, ranging from EcoBoost-powered gasoline vehicles and advanced technology diesels to hybrids and plug-in hybrids.
Combining technology, environmental awareness and new products, the press conference delivered a clear message that Ford is leveraging technology to make the world a better place.
