Sberbank to Upgrade Half of Its POS Terminals
OREANDA-NEWS. By the end of 2016, Sberbank will upgrade more than 250,000 points of sale used by partners (who receive acquiring services from the bank) to NFC contactless payment technology.
Currently new Sberbank POS terminals installed at retail locations are equipped with NFC readers. These new terminals accept payments from all existing types of bank cards as well as NFC-capable mobile phones, watches, tags, etc. It is already possible for consumers to use contactless payment in chains such as Pyatyorochka, Karusel, Okey, Magnit, Lenta, Sedmoy Kontinent, Detsky Mir, Burger King, and others.
"We pay special attention to NFC technologies because one of the bank's priority tasks is to make payments more convenient for cardholders. We are getting closer to the point when single-touch payments made with bank cards, mobile phones, watches and other devices will be a common occurrence," commented Svetlana Kirsanova, Head of Acquiring at Sberbank.
