HYUNDAI TAPS WORLD-CLASS DIRECTORS FOR ITS SUPER BOWL ADS
OREANDA-NEWS. FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Dec. 29, 2015 – Hyundai Motor America unveiled its dream team of directors who are creating its four advertisements for February’s Super Bowl 50. Together the team has directed numerous award-winning feature films and advertisements and are some of the most sought-after directors in the business.
For the first time, Hyundai also announced the vehicles that will be featured in the ads. The company’s luxury sedan Genesis will be showcased in one spot, while the all-new 2017 Elantra, currently the company’s best-selling vehicle, will be introduced to the public in two separate ads.
The directors working on Hyundai’s ads include:
Peter Berg, Pony Show Productions
The well-known actor, director, writer and producer will be directing two Hyundai ads. Berg has an infallible eye for compelling visuals, an actor’s devotion to performance, and strikes the perfect balance between movie director and commercial director.
He is known for directing films such as the dark comedy Very Bad Things (1998), the sports drama Friday Night Lights (2004), the action thriller The Kingdom (2007), the superhero comedy-drama Hancock (2008), and the war film Lone Survivor (2013). He also developed the television series Friday Night Lights, which was adapted from the film he directed.
Fredrik Bond, MJZ Productions
As one of the most in-demand directors in advertising, Bond is an expert in empathetic, character-driven spots that create an emotional experience. Bond will direct Hyundai’s new brand ad, which will debut during the Super Bowl. Bond has been honored with dozens of awards, repeatedly lands on Creativity’s Top Directors list and has been named to the annual Creativity 50 list multiple times.
Aaron Stoller and Janusz Kaminski, Biscuit Filmworks
Stoller will be overseeing one of Hyundai’s ads and is an award-winning television commercial director with an eye and storytelling abilities that span a wide range, from dramatic to comedy. This isn’t Stoller’s first time on Hyundai’s roster, as he directed the popular 2014 World Cup ad “Boom.” The 30-second spot celebrated fan passion as a powerful force shedding light on the worldwide phenomenon of baby booms.
Joining Stoller in directing the ad, Janusz Kaminski is a famous cinematographer and film director with a long list of notable work, including Academy Awards for greats like Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan. His imaginative film making and the ability to create an overall cinematic feel lent themselves perfectly to their Hyundai spot.
“We collaborated with these world-class directors to create what we think will be incredibly engaging and memorable ads,” said Dean Evans, chief marketing officer, Hyundai Motor America. “As we are finishing up shooting the spots, seeing their talent and skill in storytelling was inspirational to our entire team. We can’t wait to see the finished products.”
Two of Hyundai’s ads will highlight the safety, technology and convenience features of the 2017 Elantra. With an all-new design, Elantra offers a stirring combination of advancements that make the car better in every way and a leader in the compact car segment. The vehicle features sophisticated styling, all-new efficient powertrains, better ride quality and comprehensive safety with class-above features.
Another spot will showcase Hyundai’s premium sedan Genesis. Genesis boasts a modern design with sleek, luxury appointments. It offers outstanding driving dynamics, a generous suite of standard safety and convenience features and premium luxury technology and amenities.
The fourth Hyundai Super Bowl ad will use compelling storytelling to highlight the core values of the brand and what Hyundai delivers to its consumers.
Hyundai’s Super Bowl marketing program will include a total of four new ads. Hyundai will run two in-game 30-second spots in the first and second quarters of the game. Hyundai also secured the coveted pre-kick slot and will run a new 60-second ad as viewers are primed for the start of The Big Game. And that’s not all, as the pre-game show will also feature another all-new 60-second Hyundai spot.
