Gazprom and SOCAR consider raising Russian gas supplies to Azerbaijan
OREANDA-NEWS. St. Petersburg hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Rovnag Abdullayev, President of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).
The meeting participants discussed the current state of the bilateral cooperation in the gas sector. Special attention was given to Russian gas export to Azerbaijan, particularly, the possibility of increasing gas supplies in order to meet the potential consumption growth in the Republic.
The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is Azerbaijan's major state-owned petroleum company focused on oil, gas and condensate exploration, production, processing, transportation and sales.
On September 11, 2015 Gazprom Export and Azerbaijan Methanol Company (AzMeCo) signed a mid-term Supply and Purchase Agreement to deliver up to 2 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
