OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2015.  SSE SWALEC has leant its support to a new awards scheme in Wales which recognises innovative approaches to tackling fuel poverty.

National Energy Action Cymru is inviting people to nominate examples of excellence for its inaugural Feel the Heat Awards.

SSE SWALEC is supporting this year’s event, which will offer ?4,000 to three winning organisations to help them tackle fuel poverty in their local area.

Frances Muller, Customer Relations Manager at SSE SWALEC, said: "We are proud to support the Feel the Heat awards which celebrate innovation and action that is making a difference for customers.  We look forward to learning more about how groups across Wales are providing advice and support for people in more vulnerable circumstances.”

The new Awards will recognise and celebrate the achievements being made by creative and innovative initiatives in the areas of tackling fuel poverty including financial advice for people at risk of, or in, fuel poverty; helping households in fuel debt; energy efficiency training and education; and collaboration and partnership working in the fight against fuel poverty.

They are open to not-for-profit organisations, including local authorities, housing associations, health agencies, public and statutory organisations, charities and community groups.

“I know from stakeholders, partners and colleagues there is a great deal of excellent work being undertaken in the area of fuel poverty and these awards are an excellent way of acknowledging that work, as well as providing financial support to enable organisations to continue or expand their projects.”
