OREANDA-NEWS. On the 10th of December Unit 1 of E.ON Russia Berezovskaya GRES acquired the certificate of compliance with Standard STO 59012820.27.100.002 of System Operator of the United Power System establishing requirements to power units participating in Standardized Primary Frequency Control (SPFC) within the power system of the Russian Federation. Starting from 15 December, 2015 the unit is participating in the provision of this service that is of great importance to the power system of the Russian Federation.

Unit 1 of Berezovskaya GRES is currently the first and the only coal steam power generation unit participating in SPFC.

The works associated with introduction of the power unit into system services market took 18 months: production of equipment for the upgrade of the turbine automatic control system that was assembled during the repairs of Unit 1 in summer 2015 was needed. The turbine automatic control system has been manufactured and replaced with electrohydraulic one. Also the software and hardware package used for turbine control has been replaced, and the automatic components of the Unit have been calibrated.

After a series of special purpose testing for compliance with Standard STO 59012820.27.100.002 of SO-UPS Unit 1 of Berezovskaya GRES received a positive verdict of the certifying authority (VTI JSC and SO-UPS JSC), which resulted in the acquisition of a certificate granting it the right to render this type of system services.
