Deutsche Telekom offers Norton Small Business from the Cloud
Norton Small Business is now available on a subscription basis, from Deutsche Telekom's Cloud Portal, for 4.95 euros per month including five devices. Every additional device costs 0.95 euros. Businesses interested in the system are welcome to try it out for 30 days free of charge. With Norton Small Business, Deutsche Telekom has expanded its cloud ecosystem in keeping with the infrastructure, platform and system needs of even the smallest companies. While the service is initially being marketed in German-speaking areas of Europe, it is already available in more than 25 different languages. And Deutsche Telekom's security experts plan to suitably enhance the Norton Small Business service in cooperation with Symantec, the manufacturer. Needless to say, all of the included security tools have integrated functionality for regular updates.
In 2015, German companies saw yet another increase in the frequency of cyber-attacks. In the latest edition of Deutsche Telekom's Cyber Security Report, a total of 36 percent of companies surveyed reported having experienced cyber-attacks at least once per week (the corresponding figure for the previous year was 32 percent). And a total of 18 percent of all companies reported having experienced daily attacks (2014: 14 percent).
A full 70 percent of the business and political leaders surveyed named computer viruses as the gravest cyber threat faced by people in Germany. Other relevant forms of Internet crime include fraudulent use of stolen personal data, planting of malware on mobile devices and extortion via denial of service (DoS) attacks on company websites.
While large corporations can afford to maintain in-house teams of IT experts to guard against such threats, small businesses have to rely on external expertise. The Norton Small Business service is sized for five to 20 users and their devices. Up to 60 PCs, Macs and mobile devices (Android and iOS) can be integrated within a single security plan. On Deutsche Telekom's cloud portal, customers can easily add and remove employee licenses and devices as necessary. The new cloud-based system includes:
- protection against viruses and other types of malware
- a smart firewall
- browser protection
- a phishing blocker
- protection for safe Internet surfing and searching
- protection against identity theft
- e-mail protection and spam filtering
- an app advisor for mobile devices
- an anti-theft guard for mobile devices
The Deutsche Telekom cloud: simple, secure and affordable
Deutsche Telekom and T-Systems, its corporate customers unit, are already European market leaders in providing services from especially secure private clouds. And the Group aims to double its revenue with cloud-based services for business customers by the end of 2018. This is why Deutsche Telekom is expanding its range of public cloud services, which are accessed via the public Internet. Last year, T-Systems' revenue with cloud-based solutions grew at a double-digit rate. For Deutsche Telekom, this is especially significant in that building its market position with business customers is an important part of its efforts to become the leading telecommunications company in Europe. Since 2005, Deutsche Telekom and its subsidiary T-Systems have offered secure end-to-end cloud solutions for companies of all sizes – complete solutions including such key elements as consulting, implementation, billing, customer service and maintenance.
